Purpose
The purpose of this course is to increase knowledge in the nursing delegation skill set needed to appropriately use delegation as a tool in nursing practice.

Objectives: After studying the information within this course, you will be able to:
1. Define delegation.
2. Differentiate between responsibility and accountability.
3. List two benefits of delegation for the registered nurse.
4. List two challenges to delegation for the registered nurse.
5. Discuss the five rights of delegation.
6. Describe how delegation influences patient outcomes.
7. Summarize the National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s Delegation Decision-Making Grid.
8. List the three categories of the American Nurse Association’s Nursing Principles of Delegation.
