This course defines home accessibility remodeling: a proactive housing and care alternative for persons with disabilities and others who wish to remain in their homes as their personal health changes and as they grow older.

This course reviews five different levels of home accessibility products and services and looks at some of the more common types of modifications that could be used in specific areas of a client’s home.

This six-module Residential Accessible Bathroom Consultant (RABC) Program has been developed to educate the environmental access and home modifications professionals in accessible bathroom remodel design, construction, and alterations that safely resolve individual accessibility, bathing, toileting and personal hygiene needs. The program is designed to reduce the disparity in training and professional knowledge among people who evaluate, install, and maintain accessible bathroom remodels to provide residential access for people with physical challenges. This program also assists those studying for the Certified Environmental Access Consultant (CEAC) certification exam.

The Certified Environmental Access Consultant (C.E.A.C.) credentialing program is administered by VGM Live At Home. Environmental Access is the process of adapting the workplace, residence and/or general environment to promote the independence, safety and functional ability for the physically challenged and aging individuals. The C.E.A.C .is a recognized certification for professionals creating accessibility or working in the environmental access field. The program consists of a 6 unit self-study educational program, unit reviews, and a comprehensive final exam. Upon successfully completing the entire program, you will hold the distinction of a Certified Environmental Access Consultant (C.E.A.C.).

Methamphetamine addiction has grown to epidemic proportions in the United States. Chemicals used to make meth include ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, and phenylpropanolamine which are found in many cough and cold products and are known as “scheduled listed chemical products” (or SLCPs). Recent federal legislation requires all “regulated sellers” of products containing these three products to self-certify with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) before selling the products. While this course does not satisfy the DEA's self-certifying requirement, it does provide the information the DEA requires in order to self-certify.

The program is designed to reduce disparity in training and professional knowledge among people who evaluate, design, install, and maintain transfer lifts for residential access for people with physical challenges. This program also assists those studying for the Certified Environmental Access Consultant (CEAC) certification exam and the CEAC Mastery Program.

This course discusses the topic of harassment in the workplace and speaks specifically about workplace bullying. You will learn what behaviors define bullying, the physical and mental effects of bullying, what to do if you are being bullied, and the ways bullying behaviors harm your company. Continuing education: This course does not offer any continuing education credits.

In this course, you will learn powerful ways to stop stress even before it arrives. You will also learn effective ways of handling the stress that does occur in your life, through healthy, productive outlets.

This course allows the student to meet accreditation competency requirements for instructing patients on the proper use of therapeutic shoes (often referred to as “diabetic shoes”). This course does NOT meet therapeutic shoe fitting certification required by some states. You should contact your state licensure board to determine if your state requires therapeutic shoe fitting certification. There are many different therapeutic shoes on the market today. This course reviews the standard items taught with all therapeutic shoes. Before completing this course, you should check your accreditation agency’s specific requirements for competency. This six-module Residential Grab Bar Specialist (RGBS) Program has been developed to educate the environmental access and home modifications professionals in grab bar, railings, and railing systems design, construction, and alterations that safely resolve individual mobility and accessibility needs. The program is designed to reduce disparity in training and professional knowledge among people who evaluate, design, install, and maintain grab bars, railings, and railing systems to provide residential access for people with physical challenges. This program also assists those studying for the Certified Environmental Access Consultant (CEAC) certification exam and the CEAC Mastery Program. CEAC applicants should pay close attention to any highlighted glossary terms and obtain additional resources when necessary to better understand topic areas.

The PLC program is designed to reduce disparity in training and professional knowledge among people who evaluate, install, and maintain modular platform lift systems to provide vertical access for people with physical challenges who cannot navigate stairs with or without the use of platform lifts. This program also assists those studying for the Certified Environmental Access Consultant (CEAC) certification exam and the CEAC Mastery Program.

Note: This program will also assist those studying for the C.E.A.C. certification program.

 Continuing education: VGM Education is authorized by IACET to offer 2 contact hours (0.2 CEUs) to participants who successfully complete this three-module program.
