This course identifies the benefits and limitations of CPAP humidification to help patients and to build trust with referral sources. This course was developed from an article titled Dew Diligence is Recommended, which appeared in the February 2006 issue of DealerProvider magazine.

This course introduces the new home medical equipment staff member to standard therapy for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA): CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), auto-adjusting CPAP, and bilevel PAP (BiPAP). Because of the multitude of brands of PAP devices and accessories on the market, this course covers the devices in the broadest generic terms. For specific information related to a particular brand of CPAP, auto-adjusting CPAP, or BiPAP, please consult the device manufacturers.

This course will discuss norovirus – including causes, signs and symptoms, treatment, and prevention techniques. The course will also briefly examine the trends and types of annual outbreaks that occur.

Renewal or the CEAC212 – Certified Environmental Access Consultant (C.E.A.C) Program that included the new course content from The Home Safety Assessment Consultant (HSAC). Pneumonia is a disease of the lungs that is caused by viruses, bacteria, and sometimes fungi or other organisms. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that more than 40,000 people in the United States die from some kind of pneumonia annually. It occurs frequently in infants, older adults, and those with impaired immune systems. With this course, the certified medication aide will enhance their understanding of pneumonia as well as the care and treatment of patients with the disease.

This course introduces positive airway pressure (PAP) devices, and discusses proper billing procedures for reimbursement from Medicare and other third party payers who follow the same criteria.
