CNA210 - CMA: Pneumonia (1.5 HR)
Pneumonia is a disease of the lungs that is caused by viruses, bacteria, and sometimes fungi or other organisms. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that more than 40,000 people in the United States die from some kind of pneumonia annually. It occurs frequently in infants, older adults, and those with impaired immune systems. With this course, the certified medication aide will enhance their understanding of pneumonia as well as the care and treatment of patients with the disease.

* Understand the implications of pneumonia nationally and internationally.
* Describe what pneumonia is and the progression of the disease.
* Identify the symptoms of pneumococcal pneumonia and how it is diagnosed.
* Explain the appropriate prevention, treatment, and management techniques.
