This course provides an introductory overview of OSHA.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is an agency of the United States Department of Labor. OSHA's mission is to assure America's workers have safe and healthful working conditions free from unlawful retaliation. OSHA carries out its mission by setting and enforcing standards; enforcing anti-retaliation provisions of the OSH Act and other federal whistleblower laws; providing and supporting training, outreach, education, and assistance; and ensuring state OSHA programs are at least as effective as federal OSHA, furthering a national system of worker safety and health protections. This course provides an introductory overview of OSHA.
Learning objectives:
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the extent of OSHA’s statutory authority.
- Explain the mission of OSHA.
- Identify the location and contact information of the federal regional office for the state in which your business is located.
- Explain OSHA’s responsibilities to and resources for small businesses.
To successfully complete this course, you must attain a minimum score of 80% on the final exam and complete the course training survey.
