SAFE018 - Developing a Fire Prevention Plan
A fire prevention plan (FPP) is a written document required by particular OSHA standards. The purpose of an FPP is to outline major fire hazards and the steps that a company takes to prevent a fire from occurring in the workplace. This course is intended to help safety coordinators develop a fire prevention plan that complies with OSHA standards. (Health care employees should take SAFE030 – Fire Safety instead.)
You should complete “SAFE017 - Developing an Emergency Action Plan” before taking this course, and you should complete this course before taking the “SAFE019 – Managing Fire Extinguisher Systems” course.

Learning objectives:
- Identify the minimal information that must be included in a fire prevention plan (FPP);
- Identify the three most common fire detection systems, and explain the environments in which each is best suited to be used;
- Name the purpose of an employee alarm system;
- Identify the two most common types of employee alarm systems and the environments in which each is best suited to be used.
To successfully complete this course, you must attain a minimum score of 80% on the final exam and complete the course training survey. This course combines with the courses “SAFE017 - Developing an Emergency Action Plan” and “SAFE019 - Managing Fire Extinguisher Systems” to offer you a comprehensive emergency preparedness development program.
Continuing education: This course is approved 1.0 Category II CPE credits by the Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC); VGM Education is authorized by IACET to offer 0.1 CEUs for this program.
