RESP026 – Pediatric Mask Fitting
Pediatric PAP mask fittings require sensitivity and compassion toward patients, encouragement of family support, and sometimes, imagination. In this course, sleep technicians, pediatric respiratory therapists, clinicians, and all others fitting pediatric patients will learn about diagnoses common in children requiring PAP masks, as well as the fundamentals for creating a comfortable, successful mask fitting.

Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain mask fitting techniques for different ages.
- Discuss how certain medical conditions may require a different patient education style.
- Describe how caregiver involvement is important to mask fitting.
- Explain how to help the new PAP patient accept the mask.
- Identify sleep recommendations by age per the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
- Identify potential signs, symptoms, and diagnoses common in pediatric patients with obstructive sleep apnea.
