Health care providers and others employed within health care facilities will learn about infection control measures including precautions, transmission-based (isolation) precautions, handwashing, personal protective equipment, sterilization, and disinfection.
Purpose: Health care providers and others employed within health care facilities will learn about infection control measures including precautions, transmission-based (isolation) precautions, handwashing, personal protective equipment, sterilization, and disinfection.
Objectives
1. Describe basic infection control measures, including the importance of handwashing.
2. Discuss clean (uncontaminated) versus dirty (contaminated) equipment and supplies and how to handle each.
3. Explain the difference between standard precautions and transmission-based precautions and when to use each.
4.Review how and when to use personal protective equipment (PPE).
