REG117 - Domestic Violence for Florida (2.0 HR)
To enhance the learner’s understanding of family violence, causes, physical, psychological and behavioral indicators; and family violence prevention.
Purpose: To enhance the learner’s understanding of family violence, causes, physical, psychological and behavioral indicators, and family violence prevention.
Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1. Discuss the prevalence and background information about domestic violence.
2. Identify current psychological models for domestic violence.
3. Explore the relationship between domestic violence, power and control.
4. Describe the types and symptoms of domestic violence.
5. Discuss the behavioral indicators of domestic violence, as well as characteristics of abusers, victims and children affected by domestic violence.
6. Explore the cycle of violence.
7. Assess family violence in terms of assessing level of risk, documenting violence, handling a disclosure of violence, and assisting the victim in developing a safety plan.
8. Explore domestic violence prevention.
