The purpose of this course is to create a better understanding of post-traumatic stress disorder, including diagnosis and current treatments.
Purpose: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a dramatic life-altering condition that causes intense feelings of horror, fear, and hopelessness. The purpose of this course is to assist health care professionals in identifying symptoms of PTSD and understanding its impact. Topics will also include the proper means of diagnosing and assessing PTSD as well as the appropriate therapeutic and management techniques.
Objectives
1. Define trauma.
2. Identify symptoms of PTSD.
3. Discuss the causes of PTSD.
4. Describe the assessment and diagnostic procedures for PTSD.
5. Recognize the treatment options for patients with PTSD.
