Purpose: Health care professionals will increase their understanding of anxiety disorders, their symptoms and how they are treated.
Objectives: Upon completion of this self-study, participants will be able to:
1. Define anxiety.
2. Explain what causes anxiety disorders and how they are diagnosed.
3. Discuss anxiety disorders in general.
4. Describe the physical and emotional symptoms of anxiety disorders.
5. Describe the types of medications used to treat anxiety disorders.
6. Discuss cognitive and behavioral therapies.
7. Describe dietary and lifestyle changes that will help decrease anxiety.
