Purpose
Health care providers will increase their understanding of managing and treating aggressive behaviors in older adults.
Behavioral symptoms of aggression in older adults are often misunderstood and mismanaged. Accurate assessment of social, psychological, personal, and medical needs is important to the appropriate approach and treatment. This self-study will help the health care worker understand and implement appropriate interventions for aggressive behaviors.
Objectives: Upon completion of this self-study, the participant will be able to:
1. Identify aggressive behaviors.
2. Identify common causes and triggers associated with aggressive behaviors.
3. Utilize appropriate assessment techniques.
4. Discuss intervention and prevention techniques used with aggressive behaviors.
