Purpose: To enhance the nurse’s ability to utilize ethical principles in nursing practice.
Objectives: Upon completion of this self-study, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss various ethical theories and principles within a framework for nursing practice.
2. Describe common ethical dilemmas and ethical methods of decision making.
3. Examine how application of ethical principles influences the provision of health care.
4. Identify all the provisions to the code of ethics for nursing.
5. Apply the American Nurses Association’s code of ethics to help manage ethical-related questions.
