Objectives…at the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
1. Discuss the historical timeline of the start-up of hospice in the United States.
2. Discuss the current status of hospice care in the United States.
3. Differentiate between hospice care and palliative care.
4. Describe core hospice philosophies and services.
5. Discuss the essential concepts of effective communication with the terminally ill patients and their families.
6. Explain the essential ethical and legal challenges of hospice care.
