This course will discuss coronary heart disease at length – including the causes of the disease, risk factors involved, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of coronary heart disease. The course will also touch on how to delay or even prevent CHD and strategies for living and coping with the disease.

Description: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a disease in which a waxy substance called plaque builds up inside the coronary arteries. These arteries supply oxygen-rich blood to heart muscle. Over time, CHD can weaken the heart muscle and lead to heart failure and arrhythmias.

This course will discuss coronary heart disease at length – including the causes of the disease, risk factors involved, as well as signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of coronary heart disease. The course will also touch on how to delay or even prevent CHD, as well as strategies for living and coping with the disease.

Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
1. Discuss coronary heart disease, including causes, risk factors, signs and symptoms of CHD, diagnosis, and treatment.
2. Describe lifestyle changes that may be important to preventing or reducing the risk of CHD.
3. Discuss cardiac rehabilitation.
