The purpose of this course is to provide greater understanding of arrhythmias, how and why they develop, symptoms associated with an arrhythmia, and general treatment measures to expect. We will briefly cover EKG changes, medication, treatment, and life support interventions.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Describe the heart’s electrical conduction system.
  2. Describe the heart action represented by electrocardiogram.
  3. Define and identify the different types of arrhythmias.
  4. Describe patient signs and symptoms of an underlying arrhythmia.
  5. Describe pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic measures used to treat arrhythmias.
