To provide information in accordance with Iowa law that a supervisor needs to develop and/or implement a substance abuse prevention program, including drug and/or alcohol testing, in the workplace setting.
Purpose:
To provide information in accordance with Iowa law that a supervisor needs to develop and/or implement a substance abuse prevention program, including drug and/or alcohol testing, in the workplace setting.
Objectives:
1. Describe guidelines for making a decision for drug testing in your facility.
2. Identify components of a comprehensive prevention program designed to detect and deal with substance misuse.
3. Recognize evidence of employee alcohol and other drug misuse.
4. Summarize steps for documentation and corroboration of employee alcohol and other drug use problems.
5. Describe guidelines for investigating situations related to substance misuse.
6. Explain how to validate and confront employees with substance use problems.
7. Recognize the basic requirements for drug testing.
