This course will help the health care worker understand and implement appropriate interventions for aggressive behaviors.

This seven-module series about the care of people with dementia is written for all levels of caregivers and health care providers. Topics covered in this series include understanding dementia, communication, behavior management, philosophy of care, person-centered activities, activities of daily living, and ethical dilemmas. This portion will help the health care worker understand and implement appropriate interventions for aggressive behaviors.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss challenging behaviors associated with dementia.
2. Explain strategies and techniques for dealing with challenging behaviors.
3. Discuss interventions that are alternatives to restraints.
4. List five types of abuse of older adults.
5. Identify legal timelines for reporting abuse of older adults.
6. Summarize strategies to prevent abuse of older adults.
