Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

1. Explain the normal aging process of the brain.
2. Describe dementia and its effects on the brain.
3. Discuss how memory loss from dementia differs from normal aging.
4. List neurological diseases or conditions that can cause irreversible or reversible dementia and other conditions or disorders that may result in similar symptoms.
5. Identify various therapies as interventions for prevention or slowing progression of dementia.
6. Summarize how dementias are diagnosed.
