INF002 - Standard Precautions and Infection Control
This course provides health care providers with an overview of infection control measures including standard precautions, transmission-based (isolation) precautions, handwashing, personal protective equipment, sterilization, and disinfection.
This course provides health care providers with an overview of infection control measures including standard precautions, transmission-based (isolation) precautions, handwashing, personal protective equipment, sterilization, and disinfection. To successfully complete this course, you must attain a minimum score of 80% on the final exam and complete the course training survey.
Learning objectives:
After completing this course, learners will be able to:
- Describe basic infection control measures, including the importance of handwashing.
- Discuss clean (uncontaminated) versus dirty (contaminated) equipment and supplies and how to handle each.
- Explain the difference between standard precautions and transmission-based precautions and when to use each.
- Identify how and when to use personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Discuss strategies for prevention and control of influenza in health care facilities.
- Discuss strategies for prevention and control of COVID-19 in health care facilities.
