This course is intended to apply your knowledge of HIPAA basics to the workplace. You should complete part one of this series (“HIP001 – Understanding HIPAA”) before taking this course.
This course is the second of a two-part series about the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). It is intended to apply your knowledge of HIPAA basics to the workplace. You should complete part one of this series (“HIP001 – Understanding HIPAA”) before taking this course.
Learning objectives:
- Identify the duties of a HIPAA privacy officer;
- Explain the Minimum Necessary Standard ("need to know");
- Identify both visual and verbal risks and keys to reduce those risks;
- Express patient rights as stated by HIPAA;
- Explain how HIPAA is affected by emergency situations.
- Describe types of HIPAA violations and their consequences.
