This course is designed to introduce the beginning computer user to the distinctive intricacies of the Internet.


Learning objectives:

  1. Define terminology and phrases related to the Internet; 
  2. State the difference between a search directory and a search engine; 
  3. Search for specific information using Boolean search strings to narrow the number of search results returned after a query; 
  4. Configure Internet Explorer to your own personal preferences; 
  5. Configure Firefox to your own personal preferences; 
  6. State how computer viruses can affect your experience on the Internet and how to prevent your computer from becoming infected; 
  7. State the basic principles of “Netiquette” when writing email. 
  8. To successfully complete this course, you must attain a minimum score of 80% on the final exam and complete the course training survey.


Continuing education: 1.0 Category II CPE credits by the Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC); VGM Education is authorized by IACET to offer 0.2 CEUs for this program.
