PURPOSE:
The medication aide will enhance her knowledge of type 2 diabetes and the special care of the patient with the disease.
OBJECTIVES:
· Discuss diabetes, including the types of diabetes.
· List the risk factors for type 2 diabetes.
· List and explain the symptoms of hypo- and hyperglycemia.
· Discuss tests and treatment.
· Explore medications used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
· Discuss the care of the patient with diabetes.
· Explain complications associated with diabetes.
