To present health care professionals with a comprehensive understanding of advance directives. The medical community must know the various types of advance directives in order to assist patients with their legal right to make their own decisions concerning their care.

This course provides a general overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), the world's first comprehensive civil rights law for people with disabilities. This course will review Title I which covers ADA and employment: what types of businesses must comply, which job applicants and employees are protected, and the process for the accommodation of people with disabilities at work.

This course will also consider why the ADA was written, the importance of its intent, illustrate common myths, and present employer benefits of following the ADA law. This course is intended to give guidance to people working in the health care industry and is not intended as a substitute for legal advice.

In this course intended for nursing and management staff in the long-term care setting you will learn what is social media, what privacy rights residents have related to social media, and types of possible criminal abuse via social media. You will study what the August 5, 2016 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) memo mandated that nursing homes do in regards to social media, including creating and implementing policies, training staff, and responding and reporting allegations of abuse. In June 2016, the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) gave written guidance to members about what these policies may encompass, which will be discussed.
