NUR148 - Influenza and Health Care (1.0 HR)
To enhance the healthcare professional’s knowledge of influenza: the biology, transmission, signs and symptoms, and infection control measures utilized to minimize transmission of the disease.
Purpose: The health care practitioner will enhance their knowledge of this season’s influenza and best practices for prevention and transmission of the disease.
Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1. Define influenza (flu).
2. List groups at high risk for developing flu-related complications.
3. Describe symptoms of influenza.
4. Discuss treatment of influenza.
5. Discuss prevention, transmission, and complications of influenza.
6. Understand steps to take in managing an influenza outbreak in a long-term care setting. setting.
