The participant will enhance his or her understanding of the definition of sexual harassment and how to prevent it in the workplace.

Health care facilities strive to provide a positive, discrimination-free environment for employees to work in. Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination which is a violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Sexual harassment affects an individual's employment, interferes with work performance, and creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment. This course will provide an overview of the problem of sexual harassment and how it can be resolved and prevented.

Objectives:
1. Define sexual harassment as it relates to the workplace and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
2. Review U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) guidelines on sexual harassment.
3. Outline the employer’s responsibility and liability in harassment situations.
4. Discuss the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s (EEOC) investigative process.
5. Discuss how to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.
6. Explain your understanding of sexual harassment situations through case examples.
