To successfully complete this course, you must attain a minimum score of 80% on the final exam and complete the course training survey.


Learning objectives:

  1. Describe the best practices as defined by OSHA to prevent needlestick injuries after a phlebotomy procedure; 
  2. List at least 5 safety measures that should be used when performing a phlebotomy procedure; 
  3. Identify at least three safety features in selecting a safety-engineered phlebotomy device; 
  4. List at least three reasons for the increase in the use of sharps disposal containers; 
  5. Describe the major criteria for the ideal sharps container design; 
  6. Explain risks associated with the use of reusable sharps containers.
